Short cover boosts copper almost 4 pct .

Copper rallied almost 4 percent on Wednesday while

nickel jumped 6 percent as investors rushed to buy

the metals to cover their short positions, traders said.

Copper for three-month on the London Metal Exchange rose as

high as $7,420 per tonne versus Tuesday's close of $7,150 .

Industrial metals were sold off on Tuesday and have been under

pressure for the past few weeks as worries about the health of

the global economy prompted investors to dump commodities.
